Aquitaine News: Unemployment has decreased in Aquitaine
The number of unemployed people in Category A (without any activity) in Aquitaine has reduced by 0,7% in one month according to Pole Emploi. With a total of 144,224 people enrolled at the end of November, the region of Aquitaine boasts some positive results. The Gironde department, including the state capital Bordeaux, has seen the largest improvement with 70,000 less on the unemployment list ( 2,2% reduction). The Dordogne decreased by 0,8% however both the Landes and the Pyrenees Atlantiques have risen by +1,9% and +1,4% respectively.
Under 25s have benefited over the last month, seeing a decrease by 2,2% in November however it hasn’t been as positive for the Over 50s which saw an increase of 0,6%. Over 30 thousand people over 50 are currently searching for work in Aquitaine.
Although the regional statistics for this last month appear positive, a global look at the annual figures aren’t as promising. Over the past year, the unemployment numbers in Aquitaine average at 8,2%, which is above the national average. The Dordogne has suffered the most reaching 11,3%.
