Tourism
Since 2001, Créon has pioneered cycle-tourism receiving the ‘Golden Bicycle” award from the state. It has transformed the former rail tracks from Bordeaux to Sauveterre de Guyenne into a 50km long cycle path Roger-Lapébie. It’s also possible to hire all types of bikes, including trailer buggies for children. There are 8 circuits possible from 37-60km colour coded green, blue and red just as in skiing.
Every year in September, Créon hosts the festival “Ouvre la Voix” which unites cycling and music where people are encouraged to ride the cycle path, stopping to enjoy the various concerts and wine tasting along the way!
Only a few kilometres away on the road to Sauveterre de Guyenne lay the ruins of the Abbaye de la Sauve Majeure and the Maison des vins de l’Entre Deux Mers where you can learn about and taste local wines.
