2007 - UNESCO Bordeaux World Heritage
2003 - Tramway
1995 - Alain Juppé – becomes Mayor of Bordeaux
1947 - Jacques Chaban Delmas becomes Mayor of Bordeaux
1899 - Monument of the Girondins in Place des Quinconces erected
1885 - Francois Mauriac was born (writer and Nobel laureate)
1818 - Place des Quinconces created
1816 - Château Trompette destroyed
1810 - Napoleon 1st Stone Bridge (Pont de Pierre) built
1780 - Opéra of Bordeaux
1772 - Palais Rohan (now the City Hall)
1756 - Jardin Public opens
1689 - Montesquieu was born (political thinker)
1684 - Notre Dame Church built
1653 - Bordeaux becomes part of the Kingdom of France
1581 - Michel de Montaigne (Renaissance writer) becomes Mayor of Bordeaux
1533 - Michel de Montagne was born
1462 - Louis XI gives Bordeaux a Parliament
1453 - Battle of Castillon, end of the 100 year war. Bordeaux becomes French again.
1453 - Saint Michel Church and Pey Berland Tower built
1305 - Clément V Archbishop of Bordeaux destroyed the Ordre des Templiers
XII-XVI – Cathedral Saint André built
1152 - Eleanor of Aquitaine marries Henri II Plantagenet beginning the 300 year English rule of Aquitaine
XIIc - Château de l’Ombrière built
VI-XVI – Saint Seurin Basilica built
276 - Invasion of East Germanic Tribe the Vandals
IIIc - Roman theatre Palais Gallien built

Many of the monuments and buildings in this timeline still exist today and can be visited either on a guided tour or independently. Information on the historical figures and re-enactments of historical events can be seen in the numerous museums or festive events commemorating them.
